Not a simple vday

This year, it's not a simple valentine's.
14 feb 2009 marks the last optometry clinic in SP too.

Somehow i'm feeling the ache already. We are indeed a crazy class. Had Marche for lunch at vivo ytd after clinic as a class to celebrate vday. Afterwhich we just sat around at the roof gargen thingy and played games. All eyes were on us when we played chop-chilli-chop. HAHA.

I swear ppl seriously think we are crazy when we actually wore our labcoats AT VIVO to take a cls photo. damn embarassing. haha. Then again, without that how can we mark the end of batch 13 DOPT with a BANG?? :D

Went to cafe iguana after that to escape FYP ppt submission which is in a huge mess. then when all good things end and the dust settled, it's back to reality again. chiong fyp till 3am ytd, half asleep with the alcoholic influence and the fact i woke up at 6am to go for clinic.

*deleted* - well. fyp's over. i don't bear grudge.. i think.

anyway,on a happier note, i love my class. and it's sad that we have to part. photos will be up at a later date. and thanks you lovlies for the vday presents and the amazing memory of diploma in optometry!

We are Compentent!!!

It's all over! HAHAHAHOHOHO!

The feared Compentency Test is officially over! :D I hope i'll pass :)

CP3021/24
DOPT Clinic Competency Test

Let's have an introduction to this scary test. The clinic competency test is, in short, to test if we are competent as an Optometrist when we do graduate. It is a practical test and it comprises of 12 stations, whereby you get to spend only a short 10 min in each and have to complete COMPETENTLY all the different tasks inside. Most rooms have a clinician doing the assessment while you perform the testing.

The tasks ranges from those that we do everyday in clinic to those that we hardly ever perform, like Binocular Vision. Everything is tested. From what you say, to what you do, to the working distance to the lighting to the speed to the accuracy of your results. Accuracy is a killer. It is very very stringent and Thus, it is highly stressful.

And we haven't got to the main reason of this stress. The main reason is that, we don't get to graduate if we fail certain stations. And overall it's 30% for the module. To them, FAIL (certain core stations)= INCOMPETENT! = Retain one more year.

And it is actually very easy to fail. I think no one in the entire course (my batch) passed the 1st competency test (trial run) last sem. I think i failed 4-5 stations out of 10. This time round, who knows what will happen to the results. But I'm still optimistic. I doubt they'll fail all of us right? then we all stay back one more yr ar? Okay then! Then they'll only have a handful of graduates this yr!

This competency test is horrible. Some lose sleep over it, some can't eat properly (Haojin lah!), some cry- overly stressed. Thus today we shall celebrate the end of this. :) Leave the results to another day.

celebrate!

haha.. and i went to the test while running a temperature + flu. and i'm still pretty much sick now. :(

And we bid 2008 goodbye..

We celebrated the last of 2008 in a blast! Though I had a tough day with all the FYP last minute discussion and analysis of mind-boggling graphs and stats..

Stats=headaches
Somewhere along my long and strenuous FYP journey, that equation became a FACT. Haiz.

Oh ya. Back to the happier things, after FYP, we met up with Chanel at AMK hub to just chat a bit, waste a bit of time and we ended up with loads of fun and laughter! well, all thanks to pronunciations. Hahaa.. And her signature 'Goby Dhaut' (her version of Dhoby Ghaut) which we made fun of for more than half a yr! Chanel really need to brush up on phonics :D Haha.

It's me and deirdre's official yellow day cos somehow we both ended up in bright yellow and we kept bumping into ppl wearing this happy colour! :) Haha. this kid was sitting on the table behind us and he kept trying to play with us! hahaha. But he refused to answer my question when i asked him for his name! and coincidentally he was wearing Yellow! And when i tried to take a photo of him sneakily, he dodge, dodge, dodged! This blurry photo was the best shot!

Chanel was so in love with their Eclairs that it was so funny! hahaa... in e end we decided to post with them!

Haha.. I just randomly asked her to put the wet tissue on her forehead and look! She really did! OMG!

We ended up really having so much fun in Suki sushi. Love our random funny shots. Love you girls. You ppl made the last amazing memory of the year 2008! :D
